Greatness in Goodness

Just a little thinking I was doing...

Make America Great again! It is a catchy slogan, one filled with enthusiasm and a sense of nobility. After all, who doesn’t want to be great? If your spouse makes special efforts to prepare a wonderful dinner, and afterward asks how it was, do they want to hear that it was “good” or does it mean more to them if they are told it was great? If you have worked hard on a project, do you want to be told you have done just a good job or does it somehow feel better to hear instead that you did a great job? It feels good to be great! But what about making America good again?  Good and great; somewhere we have lost the proper meanings of these words. Of course we want America to be great, but what would happen if America became truly good again? History shows that America has never been greater than the times when it has been truly good. What we really need is to be good again. No president, no matter how enthusiastic or dedicated will ever make America good; only God can do that. The battle waged against God and His Church in America has been brutal, violent and very effective. The Church has been bullied into a corner and told to sit down and be quiet, and the saints have acquiesced, choosing rather to be satisfied with shining the Light into each other’s eyes. Without the preserving nature of the believers salt and the guidance provided by the Church’s light, America has, as a whole, turned its back to the Hand of Providence, sacrificing its goodness, and in the process eliminating any opportunity to reclaim the greatness it once had.
